Update for Resale of Property and Change of Tenancy
Be advised as of September 1, 2025 Hazlet Township has made new requirements for any resale, change of ownership, change of occupancy, or change of tenancy.
For a residential resale you must obtain:
- A Construction Permit Clearance release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
- A Fire Compliance Certificate from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
- A Certification of Resale from Hazlet Township Code Official
For a residential rental you must obtain
- A Construction Permit Clearance Release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
- A Landlord license from Hazlet Township Housing Bureau
- A Fire Compliance Certificate from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
- A Certificate of Residential Rental Unit from Hazlet Township Code Official
For a Commercial resale, change of ownership, or change of tenancy
- A Construction Permit Clearance Release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
- A Use Permit from Hazlet Township Zoning Department
- A Commercial Registration and Inspection from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
- A business license from The Municipal Clerks Office
- A Certificate of Resale or Certificate of Rental Unit from Hazlet Township Code Official

NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL- HAZLET TOWNSHIP FIRE DISTRICT #1
Hazlet Township Fire District #1, Monmouth County, is accepting proposals via the Fair and Open Process in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-20.4 est. seq. for the provisions of the following professional service of Fire District Attorney. A copy of the proposal document may be obtained at the office of the Administrative Clerk, Hazlet Fire District #1, 812 Poole Ave. Suite A, Hazlet, NJ 07730 or by emailing the Administrative Clerk, Michelle Barney, at mbarney@hazletfiredistrict.org. All proposals shall be submitted to Michelle Barney, Administrative Clerk, by Tuesday October 7, 2025 at 11:00 am.
