CURRENT ANNOUCEMENTS 

 

Update for Resale of Property and Change of Tenancy

 

Be advised as of September 1, 2025 Hazlet Township has made new requirements for any resale, change of ownership, change of occupancy, or change of tenancy.

For a residential resale you must obtain:

  • A Construction Permit Clearance release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
  • A Fire Compliance Certificate from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
  • A Certification of Resale from Hazlet Township Code Official

For a residential rental you must obtain

  • A Construction Permit Clearance Release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
  • A Landlord license from Hazlet Township Housing Bureau
  • A Fire Compliance Certificate from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
  • A Certificate of Residential Rental Unit from Hazlet Township Code Official

For a Commercial resale, change of ownership, or change of tenancy

  • A Construction Permit Clearance Release from Hazlet Township Construction Department
  • A Use Permit from Hazlet Township Zoning Department
  • A Commercial Registration and Inspection from The Bureau of Fire Prevention
  • A business license from The Municipal Clerks Office
  • A Certificate of Resale or Certificate of Rental Unit from Hazlet Township Code Official

LEGAL NOTICE: DRAFT

Please take notice that pursuant to P.L. 2025, c.72 (C.35:3-1 et al.) the Hazlet Township Board of Fire Commissioners is required to provide notice starting January 1, 2026 and at least twice per month through December 31, 2026 to alert the public that the Township of Hazlet will henceforth post a complete text of each required legal notice on the District’s official website located at www.hazletfiredistrict1.org commencing on March 1, 2026 whereby citizens shall find a direct hyperlink titled “Legal Notices” conspicuously placed on the District’s homepage. Further, until the N.J. Secretary of State establishes the legal notices hyperlinks internet webpage pursuant to sub-section b. of section 2 of P.L. 2025, c.72 (C.35:3-1 et al.) the District shall be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of P.L.2025, c.72 (C.35:3-1et al.) without publications of the public entity’s hyperlink on the internet webpage to be established pursuant to subsection b. of section 2 of P.L. 2025, c.72 (C.35:3-2).
